SciPhone WG3 clones the G1

While the T-Mobile G1 is extremely old hat by now, that hasn’t stopped those similars from China from coming up with the SciPhone WG3 which is a clone of the G1. Specifications-wise, this is a pretty impressive handset, boasting a 3.2″ touchscreen display, Wi-Fi connectivity, dual cameras (presumably one is meant for video calls), dual SIM carriage and TV support. Needless to say, the WG3 will also double up as a portable media player as all decent smartphones should these days, but there is no mention of its operating system which is rather strange. It does not come with a QWERTY keyboard as with the G1 though, so those who love a physical keyboard when composing messages might want to give this a miss.

The sight of the upcoming BlackBerry Pearl 9100 that we dug up for you a few days back might have got you drooling, and now another live picture of the device has surfaced, apparently from an Indonesian site. The OS version on this device seems higher than the one previously spotted though, as this one is OS 5.0.0.483 instead of 5.0.0.426, so it’ll be interesting to see what version we get when the phone is finally released. If you’re wondering, the Pearl 9100 should sport:

  • Support for WCDMA bands I, IV and VIII
  • 3G
  • SureType QWERTY keyboard
  • Wi-Fi
  • Optical trackpad
  • Camera with LED flash

Cell Phone With Built-in Cigarette Lighter

Here’s a phone design that you most likely haven’t seen before – the world’s hottest cigarette lighter cell phone. There probably have been USB lighters before this, but have you ever seen a cell phone with a built-in cigarette lighter? Dubbed the Machismo, you just have to slide open the safety hatch at the back of the phone, and you’re just a few seconds away from a freshly-lit cigarette. In case you’re interested on the specs of the phone, for $69 you’ll get:

  • Tri-band GSM phone
  • Dual SIM slots
  • 2.5-inch touchscreen
  • 1.3-megapixel camera
  • Multimedia playback

No, we’re not suffering from dyslexia but the above title is obviously a blatant ripoff of Sony Ericsson’s X Series of smartphones, called the Somy X5 from Scny Eriosscn. This knockoff does resemble the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pureness pretty closely in physical dimensions, boasting a 2.2″ transparent display, albeit coming with a dual SIM carriage, a digital camera of unknown megapixel count, Bluetooth connectivity and an integrated FM radio. Needless to say, it retails for approximately $80 a pop in China, and we’re pretty sure you won’t see it hitting Stateside anytime soon.

Do you think that your Bluetooth headset’s volume is way too low? Well, the Jupiter Jack might be able to do something about that. It can plug into any cell phone headphone jack, and after you tune your car radio to 99.3 FM, you’ll be able to start yakking away. Volume shouldn’t be a problem anymore, as the sound will be transmitted through your car speakers. At $9.98, it’s certainly a cheap alternative to the more expensive Bluetooth solutions. Of course, the need to use the frequency of 99.3 FM only might be a downside of this, since you might be in an area that needs that channel. Still, at such a price, you can’t go far wrong.

China Manufacturer To Sue Apple Over iPad Design?

When you talk about cloned devices, most people would think of the usual fake iPhones and fake Nokia phones from China, but could you ever imagine Apple’s iPad being sued for being a clone? The Shenzhen Great Long Brother Industrial Co. has already applied for a patent of its P88 tablet back last May, entering a process that could take up to a year in China. With that in mind, Wu Xiaolong, the president of the company, isn’t too happy with Apple’s iPad announcement, especially since the company had presented their P88 six months ago at the IFA (International Electronics Fair in Berlin), and while he has admitted that it will be difficult to take on Apple in the US, but if the iPad enters the Chinese market, they will certainly sue them. Apple’s iPad is already in the firing line of Fujitsu over its name, right now it probably isn’t looking to have another company making noise about its design.

If you let an 8 year old kid choose a name for a phone it would probably be close to this Chinese CoolKing.
Despite the name the HTC Touch Diamond 2 Cell Phones has some nice specs, namely a 480 x 800 WVGA display, a 624MHz Marvell Pxa310 CPU, Windows Mobile 6.5 OS, a 3.2 inches 480×800 WVGA touchscreen, 128M of RAM, 256M of ROM, a 3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, JAVA, GPS, and a 1600 mAh battery.
The price is a ‘cool’ $220.
